How I Built a Website in 3 Days With No Tech Skills
And why I'm not even embarrassed the buttons didn't work
I'll be honest with you.
I'd been using ChatGPT for months. Brainstorming ideas, asking it questions, using it for everyday tasks. But nothing ever came of it. I'd get excited, start something, then talk myself out of it before anything actually happened.
Sound familiar?
Then I stumbled across a YouTube video about Claude. A different AI. And something clicked.
I started asking it questions. Then more questions. Then I found myself saying I want to build a website. Not one day. Not when I'm ready. Now.
The procrastination was real
I won't pretend I just dove straight in. I sat with the idea for a while. Told myself I needed to know more first. That I wasn't ready. That I'd do it properly when I had more time.
But here's what changed. I asked Claude to just give me the first step. Not the whole plan. Just step one.
And it did. Simply. Clearly. No jargon. No assumptions about what I already knew.
So I did step one. Then asked for step two.
That's genuinely how the whole thing got built.
Three days later
I had a real website. With pages. And copy. And a brand. And a lead magnet. And an email list ready to capture subscribers.
Was it perfect? Absolutely not.
The buttons didn't work on my first published version. I'm talking nothing clicked through to anywhere. On a live website. That real people could theoretically visit.
And you know what? I left it up anyway.
Because I am someone who usually won't share anything until it's perfect and polished. And this time I decided done was better than perfect.
I fixed the buttons. The site is live. And I'm genuinely proud of it.
What AI actually did for me
Claude didn't build the website for me. I want to be clear about that.
But it did:
Break every overwhelming task into simple steps I could actually follow
Answer every "stupid" question I had
Help me write every single page of copy
Talk me through technical bits I'd never encountered before
Keep me moving when I would normally have stopped
It was like having a patient, knowledgeable friend available at midnight when I was stuck on something that felt impossible.
What this means for you
If you've been thinking about doing something, starting a business, building a website, creating something, but you keep waiting until you know enough or feel ready enough or have enough time?
You're ready now. You just need the right support.
AI isn't magic. It won't do everything for you. But it will meet you exactly where you are and help you take the next step.
That's all it takes. One step at a time.
